Poetry: Mandelstam and Mayakovsky

Mandelstam, half mad in a shabby coat,

Fearing his own poisoned, steals bread

From other prisoners in the labour camp,

And so they beat him.

And Stalin orders

The huge Russian people to consider

Mayakovsky a genius, and so they name

Streets after him in all the cities.
